How to have a Successful Crisis?

Here is the video for our service on 9/6. We talked about the response from God to Habakkuk. I gave the teens 3 things to remember when dealing with a Crisis, the #1 being that God is in control and that He is there with us when we have problems in our life.
Let me know what you think and what things could be improved upon. Beth and I already talked about some of the things that we think, but I want to hear your opinion.
Grace and Peace, Pastor Roy

You topic is great and the kids love you. One thing that may help you is being stiller with your body movement and making every move that you make count. i know that is very hard to do but try to speak with your arms comfortably down to your sides unless you are using them to make a specific point and this adds more power to your words..

To the Right Reverend Roy Probus,

This is Jason Caddy! Hey man! It looks like things are going great for you and I am excited to know that after three yeras your house has finally been rolled. It's amazing that it takes that long to look forward to it and then when it happens you begin to watch to make sure it doesn't happen to often.

I am sorry that I didn't get back to your first email but wanted to throw two things out to you and I hope this is what you were looking for:

1) I would remove your stand that you are using for your notes. If you must use it, make sure it is off to the side. If you notice in the video, from what I can see and from I have always thought about having a stand, there is a lot of you that is hidden. I know that some people use notes and need the stand but I would do everything I could to make sure that there is nothing between me and my audience (the teens).

2) The way to accomplish #1 is to preach simply and from the overflow of where God has you. For years I have spent "preaching" time exactly as you have done with the lists of "two ways to this," "three ways to that." One of the things I always tried to do was preach from the passion from within, the overflow of where God and I had been walking. The seond thought on this has come to me just recently as I have read several of Andy Stanley's books and articles. In case you don't know, he was the YP at Atlanta First Baptist and is the founding pastor of one of the fastest growing churches in America (also in North Atlanta, hence the name NorthPoint). He suggests developing "sermons" around one point. Sometimes we struggle with the twos and threes but many times we can remember the one. I have found that it is helping me and that the people are remembering things better and on top of that I believe it is affecting thier life in a more direct way. Once again you know, as well as I do, that preaching is not about informatoin but life change.

Those are the two things I would encourage you to work on. I have to admit that it was great to actually see you . It has been a while since I have seen, even though we have IM'd over the last couple of years. I am very proud of waht God has done and is doing in your life and I look forward to hearing about incredible stories of life change in the future. Keep me posted on what is up in life! Talk to you later but until then...

On His Team,
Jason
